about

I wrote this at time of desperation about my personal pursuit of meaning and happiness. The song then took me further into a thought provoking consideration of how people search for meaning and try to make meaning of there life.

lyrics

What was I thinking? What am I thinking now?
What, somehow I could find my own way?
My hair is dripping, my body’s going numb,
sitting in this telephone phone booth with nothing more left to say
Operator can you help me? It seems I have lost my way
Maybe you could send a taxi, to get me out of this place
Feels like I’m dreaming, what good has dreaming done?
When this has become my reality
My stomach’s burning, my head is pound in,
and sky is blacked out another day.
Operator can you help me? It seems I have lost my way
I need to find a taxi, to get me out of this place

Hey it seem that people see just what they want to see
You see your projection you don’t see me
Wake every morning with your best James Dean
Or Marilyn Monroe, you choose your tragedy like
cheerios or another morning routine
got to shine those shoes, make sure they look pristine
greet the day and expect some new truth
Operator can you help me? It seems I’ve lost my way
Dr. Phil can you help me? We could reason my mistakes
Oprah can you help me? With the next health craze
Mr President you could lend a hand, by pulling jobs from outer space
Sweet Jesus can you help me? I fear I’m losing faith

In the footsteps of my older brother Sam, I picked up the guitar at age 13 to start writing songs. I started in a ska band called Six Foot Midgets, although lets be honest we never could get a horn's section, but then realized I needed the vibrations of an acoustic to resonate my innereds. I have been trying to be honest to those deeper struggles ever since. Thought provoking and heart felt ... more
